Pioneers of the Broken beat / bruk genre Bugz in the Attic are back with the long awaited second instalment of remix album Got the Bug out on BBE records, October 2009. This represents the first ever full broken beat release on BBE and features their remixes of Basement Jaxx, Amy Winehouse, Soul 2 Soul and many more.
The bugz, usually found in several studios around North West London, set out on their musical journey during the mid nineties as a collective of Dj's, producers, musicians & a classically trained cellist, mixing up House, Hip hop, Jazz alongside Hardcore and Jungle in the attic of a flat in Richmond over 10 years ago.
From there the Bugz went on to set up their infamous Bita Suite studio, label Bitasweet Records and formed a 9 piece live band carving out a strong reputation both individually and collectively as top remixers and an underground electronic group; Bugz were laying the foundations for current trends namely UK & Funky House, Dubstep & contemporary Electronica. The first releases coming out through Virgin records were the remix of Amira "my Desire" & several other early anthems on the seminal broken beat label People Records. The group went on to produce, remix and collaborate on hundreds of other titles and artists as well as culminating a top 46 chart position with their Booty La La single & 76 with their rendition of Don't stop the Music.
Bugz also co founded & jointly ran the legendary Sunday club institution Co-Op and were especially well known for their remixes with artists such as Amy Winehouse, 4hero, Macy Gray and Soul ll Soul which led to the signing with V2 Records in 2004 and which saw the initial Got the Bug remixes album, a studio album - Back In The Doghouse as well as a third single, Move Aside.
The Bugz, along with their Bitasweet label, have had numerous releases & underground smashes like Seiji & Lyric L's Loose Lips and Afronaut's Golpe tuyo Calinda. They have also individually remixed artists including Roisin Murphy, Basement Jaxx, Ruben Blades and Bunny Mac to name a few. In 2007 V2 records was taken over & the Bugz were released. Since then they have been working on several solo projects, producing and co-writing material for artists such as Kele le Roc, Blu James (Basement Jaxx) & Joy Jones while also collating new material for their own follow up album due next year. Recent single releases include the Coop anthem "Reject" on Coopr8 / MOI Records, the new exclusively released " Expression" - an instrumental dub of their Soul ll Soul Fairplay remix, a series of exclusive dubs & unreleased cuts available exclusively through the website, www.coopr8.net and of course the most current and exciting project - the new remix album Got the Bug 2.

Spencer Parker is one of Europe's leading djs, his unique style of house music is in demand the world over and with his productions, remixes and re-edits being supported by such names as Radio Slave, Luciano, Laurent Garnier, Richie Hawtin, Ben Watt, Nic Fanciulli and Pete Tong, the future looks bright.
Spencer's style is simply best described as underground electronic house music. Preferred record labels range from the techno stylings of M_nus, Planet E, Drumcode and Rekids through to the uber-cool house of Buzzin' Fly, Cecille, Tsuba and Objektivity. A set from Spencer would include acid house and techno alongside some cool jackin' tracks and the odd trippy vocal. Spencer has held some highly successful residencies in his home town of London and continues to regularly guest at the capitals best clubs, including Fabric and The Arches, as well as being in demand worldwide, with recent visits alone including Russia, Germany, China, America, Australia, France, Italy and Romania.
In 2005 Spencer began his production career with the release of his debut single "Open Your Eyes", his second release coming the following year in the shape of “Beautiful Noise”, on Radio Slave's newly launched Rekids label. Early copies garnered support from names such as Nic Fanciulli, Clive Henry, X Press 2, Ben Watt and Pete Tong. In addition to "Beautiful Noise" Spencer also released the much hyped single "Neon" in early 2007 on the London based Tsuba label. Already becoming an anthem for Nic Fanciulli after constant play at his Space (Ibiza) residency, "Neon" was supported by such names as James Zabelia and Laurent Garnier with both John Digweed and Hernan Cattaneo adding it to their latest compilations.
In addition to producing original material, Spencer often remixes or re-edits some of the hottest tracks around to give himself an exclusive secret weapon to play and make his dj sets completely original. Recent official remixes include "Freaky Bleepy" for Ben Watt's excellent Buzzin' Fly imprint, the lead single from Nic Fanciulli's Skylark album, "All I See" as well as Spencer's well received remix of Foremost Poets' "Moonraker" for NRK Records. Also, although unlikely to see a release, more than a few people have been asking about his hot re workings of Ricardo Villalobos' "Enfants" and Akefe Iku's huge "Mirror Dance" track.
In 2008, Spencer's production schedule really stepped up a gear with releases on SAW ("Music Box"), Buzzin' Fly ("Chiho"), Tsuba ("e Lucia") and Rekids ("The Dreamer EP").
In 2009, Spencer has already stacked up forthcoming singles on Rekids, Buzzin' Fly, Saved and Liebe* Detail as well as mixing his first compilation for Rekids, the aptly names "Rekids Revolution", which will be accompanied by an extensive worldwide tour.
Spencer is an experienced and adaptable dj that knows how to warm up for big names intelligently as well as rock a main room in his own right, anywhere in the world. Now, with his production and remixing skills developing at a rapid rate, and releases on some of the worlds best underground house labels, the package is complete.

The brainchild of Fluid Ounce head honcho Chris Vogado - aka one half of Ninja Tune’s Zero dB - ‘Fluid Ounce presents…’ is a groundbreaking compilation: 90 (yes, nine-zero) tracks of exclusive, exciting, original and genre-rampaging music presented in high quality formats on one DVD.
And here’s how it came to be…
It’s 2008; you know how it is; the music industry is flickering in its own embers; compact discs dangle to scare off birds whilst vinyl gathers dust; recordings of music can be heard but not seen.
Chris Vogado struggles back from another gig, another airport, another journey, with two excessively heavy record bags full of vinyl gems. As he enters Fluid Ounce HQ and relieves his sloping shoulders, he detours into the vaults where demos bulge off every shelf and remind him of the mammoth task in hand. For years he’s been receiving, auditioning, reviewing and ransacking an ever rising flood of demos, sent with care from around the world. And for the past two years, he’s concentrated great efforts into scooping off the cream and liaising with the artists to optimise their often already exceptional if sometimes under-nurtured sounds. But to release all of these nuggets on 12” heavyweight vinyl, as the quality of the music deserves, when no miserable sod can be bothered to put their wallet where their appreciation of this unsurpassable format is? NON! NO! NO MORE! NOT IN THIS GAME! Chris Vogado, realising he is shouting at nobody, gathers his thoughts and calmly vows to make a change.
Suddenly, through the haze of sunlit dust specks a vision appears (and for once, it is not a naked lady). It could just be the solution: put out a massive collection of the very best of a damned good lot and show the world that quantity and quality can coexist in a small, neat package. Si, si, señores y señoras, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls - Fluid Ounce Presents… these 90 exclusive, outstanding tracks, from no less than 29 different, mostly new, but always uniquely fresh artists, all carefully plucked and finely tuned by the clean and unforgiving ears of A&R guru Chris Vogado.
I know I’m hard to please”, sighs Vogado now, “and I know I’ve been a real pain in the arse for most of the artists featured here, meddling to the point of great interference, but it really has been worth it, as they, we - and hopefully you - will all agree.

About The Grandfather Paradox
When we first started thinking about the compilation, we had in mind the idea to put together a great minimal techno selection with stuff from the early 90s, which really inspired us, like Robert Hood, Dan Bell, Plastikman, Pansonic and Mike Ink to name a few. Whilst working on the project we had the feeling that there is so much more great and influential minimal music from way before the techno thing started.
So we were very excited to combine the music from the electronic pioneers, with the tracks from the minimal techno godfathers in a very modern way. In Minimal Music there is so much (space) in between the sounds and the space that gives you a lot of opportunities for an own interpretation.
The Grandfather Paradox is a scientific theory about time travelling and was first described by the science fiction writer Rene Barjavel in his book - Le Voyageur Imprudent. We took suggestions out of that because we felt like we are travelling back in time and manipulating the old music with modern knowledge. The fact that we did all this with the deserved respect to the originals makes us quite sure that the results are bringing something new and interesting to the old tracks and transport the past into the here and now.

You can't really classify the sound of L Kubic. Connoisseurs and smarty-pants might call ist „House“ but it is much more. This guy knows how to move you with his very own mix of pumping club grooves and emotional harmonies, causing unique moments. L Kubic is the Berlin based producer Lars Niekisch, who as a member and mastermind of Trick & Kubic mainly created the sound of this project. Already in the 90s he was playing keyboards and writing songs in various bands. He also did his first producing steps working as a programmer and co-producer at a music studio. After that he and his good friend Alec Trick decided to found their own project, dedicating themselves solely to electronic music. The success came quickly and soon they got their international breakthrough. On his journeys around the globe to countless gigs, inspired by all the impressions, he collected lots of musical ideas. Based on these fragments L Kubics first solotracks were produced back home in the studio. “It’s great, cool music!” said Ben Watt and immediately agreed to sign the song “Voyager” for his label Buzzin Fly. Also the Berlin label BlackFoxMusic showed their interest straight away, which was the beginning of a career of a new artist that nevertheless has always been there – L Kubic.

Husley and Gunz
Husley and Gunz
First Published on14th December 2008
Tracklist
Jacob Trier aka Husley and August Jakobsen aka Gunz first met when they came to London 9 years ago. Whilst accelerating in his BA in Jazz, in his free time Gunz began to use his eclectic guitar music to produce full-length tracks with his computer, therefore fusing these to create a unique electronic sound. This sparked the creation of his jazz-electronica group, Loop ad Lip, where he solely produced almost 20 songs.
Meanwhile, following Husley’s success of playing at an array of gigs at underground DnB parties in Aarhus, he continued to infect enthusiastic crowds at a string of DnB raves on the outskirts of London. While in London, Husley began to be deeply influenced by other dance and electronic genres and started to explore, Nubreaks, Electro, Minimal Techno and Acid House. He succeeded in getting more and more gigs in pubs and bars across the capital until he secured his residency in Brick Lane’s 1001. He even succeeded in playing in Plump DJ’s (Fingerlickin’ Records) album launch VIP after-party!
Husley and Gunz first formed 4 years ago; Husley was continuing to play in London’s up and coming East, and Brick Lane and Gunz had just finished his BA in Jazz Music at Trinity College. It was then that Husley and Gunz brought their eclectic music experiences together to form Nocturnals. Within this group they each expressed their inventive musical edge & their style had no boundaries; the result was a musical journey that would take you through deep electronica & ambient sound to live breaking beats, bass lines with jazzy undertones. This was achieved using turntables spun by Husley, and laptop mastered by Gunz. Their live performances were enhanced through the presence of trumpet, live double bass, drums, keys & stunning vocals. They were then signed to Gilles Peterson’s Glenfiddich tour and played around 30 gigs in some of London’s most eminent venues such as Bar Rumba, Cargo, Salt, Canteloupe, 93 Feet East, Medicine Bar and many more. They also featured in the some of the UK’s biggest publications such as Observer Music Monthly, GQ and Time Out.
Their debut was marked with the release of their EP, Husley (ear : Eye records), and was launched at Europe’s biggest winter festival Snowbombing, Austria, where Nocturnals played alongside the likes of Soul of Man, Cuban Brothers, Grooverider and Aphex Twin.
As Nocturnals developed so did Husley’s and Gunz’s interest for techno and house music. They started to look at how they could fuse this enthusiasm with their unique style to create a distinguished, thumping techno sound - the result – a burning live set comprising of deep minimal jazzy techno. This extraordinary style is actualized by a laptop, sampler, key board and turntables. Now 3 years on, Husley and Gunz have continued to smash Britain’s most bustling capital by playing at illustrious venues such as The End, Bugged Out, The Egg,The Key, The Cross, Canvas, Retox, Penetration, Public Life, Club 54, 93 Feet East, Aquarium, Rhytm Factory and Rouge to name but a few. Many of these have turned into permanent residencies.
Not only have they made a massive impact in London, but also in many other of Europe’s most exciting cities; Copenhagen (Minisrty Of Sound/ Culture Box/), Berlin (Maria/club 25), Porto (Industria/ Antipop Festival) , Ibiza (We Love Space) Lake Of Stars Festival (Malawi) and loads more. They were signed to Rui Da Silva, label, Sixty-four Records with their EP Sonance in Oct 06. Even before its release on Rui’s label, the record became in huge demand and was played by some of the worlds greatest DJs. Other releases has come out on Global Underground, Hypercolour. and Kismet records is ready with 3 new releases planed for Jan, Feb and March in 2008.

Mark got his first pair of decks in 2000 and started djing in the uk back while he was at college. i would always be chillin' in a mates room where alot of close friends would MC to drum and base and thought id give the decks a whirl. I loved it, so i picked up some gear and have not looked back. Since then he has grown more into the electronic sounds where he met up with a few great artist such as Michal Ho, Shadi Megallaa, Terry Francis . Mark has been pushing the minimal, clicky, bleepy and raw tech house sounds wherever he has played. Anything that sounds weird and original with a strong element of trippyness is what gets Mark going

Matt Masters, the London-based DJ/Producer taught himself how to mix whilst studying at University for a Science degree in Music in 2001. Realising he had a flair for mixing, he purchased a set of his own decks and began playing monthly at a bar in Camden Town, London. Since then he has gone onto DJ at a large number of venues across the UK and Europe, presented his own radio show on Worldwide FM and has appeared on Ministry of Sound, House FM, Push FM and Unknown FM radio stations.
In early 2004 he began a work experience placement at Freerange Records and spent his first season in Ibiza as resident DJ for Kinky Malinki, Pukka Up and SunSea Bar. During the season he appeared at many venues including Privilege, El Divino and Es Paradis. Matt was invited to join the Freerange team permanently that year and the label and its artists have played a fundamental part in his musical influences and ambitions. Matt has played alongside Switch, Hipp-E, Jimpster, Palmskin, Mike Monday, Kirk Degiorgio and Shur-I-Kan at the London Freerange Records label parties. He has also appeared at the Sonar Music Festival in Barcelona with Milton Jackson, Garcy Noise, Tres Manos & Nacho Marco. He is currently at his new residency; the Freerange Records club night at AKA London.
In addition to his DJ gigs Matt hosts the monthly Freerange Records Podcast with guests so far including Jimpster, Diesel (X-Press 2), Roberto Rodriguez, Pezzner, Mike Monday, Fred Everything, Brett Johnson, Nacho Marco, Shur-I-Kan, Simbad, Shimiko, Palmskin Productions and Milton Jackson with nearly 10,000 downloads per week. This show is syndicated worldwide on various radio stations including Ibiza Sonica 95.2FM (Ibiza), SS Radio (UK), Club FM (Macedonia), Future Beat (UK), Proton Radio (USA), Dinamo FM (Turkey) & Pulse Radio (South Africa). He also recorded a Freerange Records Mix Compilation back in 2005 with tracks entirely from the Freerange Records catalogue – all the previous Podcasts and Mix compilation can be downloaded from the I-Tunes music store.
March 2007 saw the release of Brett Johnson’s ‘Life in the Emerald City’ EP which featured Matt’s debut remix – a digital exclusive of ‘WeR1’. Matt’s 2nd remix for Freerange was a re-work of Jimpster’s ‘A Love Like This’ and received airplay on Pete Tong’s Essential Selection on Radio 1 when Groove Armada filled in for Pete. The 3rd for Freerange which is due out soon is Pezzner’s ‘Other Lover’ so look out for that. In addition to this Matt has also remixed for Nacho Marco’s ‘Crash Test’ on Pacha Records, for Timo Garcia’s ‘Hang Loose’ on Berwick Street Records, for Corregated Tunnel’s ‘2nd Thoughts’ on Urbantorque and Harold Heath’s ‘Mercury Blues’ on Elevation Records.
A collaboration with Paddy Freeform is due for release through his Universal Vibes label soon, which will include 2 original tracks as yet untitled. Matt also works with Mr Cenzo under their Mididropmusic guise on various new EP’s. The first of which was signed to Guess Records entitled ‘Movement EP’ and kept the number 1 spot on Juno Download for 2 weeks and the new Joints From The Lab EP on Glideslope Records is currently at number 15 on the Beatport Deep House Chart. The ‘Freshly Cooked EP’ on Loudeast Records is due for release December 2008. Matt and Cenzo are currently finishing off some remix work for Adjust Records and Tricircle Records and this will be out soon in addition to adding the finishing touches to their fourth EP and an album in the pipeline.
Currently, Matt is looking forward to his solo release, ‘Deep or What’, through Pack Up And Dance. This will be out late 2008 with Milton Jackson on remix duties. In addition to this he also has had a digital release of the ‘Walk the Walk EP’ which includes ‘Rolling’ and ‘Walk the Walk’ through Urbantorque Records. This was released in November 07 and getting big support from the likes of Jimpster, Nacho Marco, James Mowbray, Murray Richardson, Mazi, Alex Parsons & Steve Mill to name but a few and also scored 4/ 5 in Mixmag Magazine UK (feedback available on request).

Dave Spenceley’s passion for DJing started over a decade ago with the good old hip hop of the mid ‘90s, but an ever thirsty ear has led to a still-growing record collection of good underground music of all ages, genres and BPMs, as well as regular gigs and slots at some of the more independent UK festivals.
Dave’s groove-laced sets are as tight as they are fluid, and he has a rare empathy with the crowd that always gets the floor moving and connects with the collective mood. After nearly ten years of throwing parties that have hosted some of the finest figures in underground UK music, (from Daz-I-Kue to TY to Giles Peterson), Dave, 33 years old, remains a humble student of the world of music and as keen a DJ as he ever was.
Still residing in deepest south west Cornwall, home to his monthly Sir Vinyl of the Fattest party, his recent re-edit project and, of course, his beloved waves, Dave isn’t about up sticks to crack any other sort of ‘scene’. You’ll just have to get down there if you want to catch the man playing live. But rest assured, the journey will be worth it.

Tomas is a new resident with universal vibes, check out his guest mix...
Tomas organises the TACTiLE parties at The Prince in Brixton with iko, and is now also a resident DJ with Universal Vibes.
His sets usually focus on either stripped down, tracky house and minimal, driving and reverb-drenched techno, or dubstep - from skippy and wonky hyperdub to techno-crossover stuff from Hessle Audio, Skull Disco, Punchdrunk etc. Other influences include Detroit techno, Funky and disco.
