Universal Vibes continues our monthly residency in the East End, at our favourite late night DJ bar, Zigfrid on Hoxton Square. This month resident Paddy Freeform is joined by special guest, Kid Fiesta...
Kid Fiesta has been immersed in the music scene since the early 1990’s, growing up on a staple diet of hip hop and early house in Manchester clubs such as The Hacienda.
Some 20 years later he still has the same enthusiasm for the scene as he did back then, only now he’s helping shape it. Since moving to London in 2000 Kid has played at pretty much every bar and club you can think of. He’s also become a firm festival favourite and you can find him spinning to some of the UK’s largest dance floors across most of the summer.
Musically, the Kid Fiesta has a genre-busting sound, with sets known to cover soul, funk, hip hop and house – a versatile DJ talent that is a rare commodity these days.

BMH Presents No Fakin' - 15th March 2013
Bar Music Hall |
Price : Free before 10/£5 after |
DJ's : No Fakin' PBS Paddy Freeform
In their first year they had DJ Spinna, All Natural, The Scratch Perverts, DJ Noize and many UK hip hop legends play for them. They would go on to host tonnes of our hip hop peers and heroes throughout the years. They started experimenting with multiple set ups - 4, 5, and sometimes 6 turntables - and through their interest in sampling and breaks were developing a large collection of funk, soul, reggae and disco as well as hip hop. This became the set up and sound of No Fakin' and as demand for them to play for other promoters and clubs grew it developed a life outside of their own club night. Forward to the present day and they host a residency at the Shipping Forecast in Liverpool supporting the US greats such as Big Daddy Kane, Maseo (De La Soul), Wu Tang's GZA and even uber producer Mark Ronson. Allied to the residency they hold at Croatia Garden Festival, they are one of the most exciting DJ acts to hear and it's a rare appearance they are making in London at Bar Music Hall in Shoreditch. Vibes returns to the Horse And Groom in Shoreditch and after a flying start back in February with house legend Phil Asher, this time round we have a double headliner. Resident Paddy Freeform is joined by special guests Simbad and City Soul Project.
Simbad knows no boundaries musically. His critically acclaimed 2008 album “Supersonic Revelation” for Raw Fusion Records touched on retro soul, house, and hip-hop whilst also managing to twist the minds of the techno and electronic communities worldwide. Apart from his busy remix schedule, Simbad travels the world recording artists and singers from all corners of the globe, DJs everywhere, and hosts radio shows for stations such as Ministry of Sound and DejaVu and actively collaborates with dance music legends such as Zed Bias, Phil Asher, and Karizma in the studio.
Young prodigy of good music, DJ & producer Simbad has become, in the time of 3 albums and more than 200 productions & remixes (on prestigious labels such as Raw Fusion, Defected, Freerange & Brownswood, and under many aliases), one of the most in demand beatmakers in today’s worldwide electronic scene. Constantly travelling between London, Tokyo or New York via Puerto Rico & other places, he has worked with great artists including Ron Trent, Robert Owens, Gonzalez, Tony Allen & Bugz In The Attic or Talvin Singh, to name a few.
His warm compositions & original dancefloor stormers have given a breath of fresh air in the world of dance music (like his classics ‘Soul Fever’ or ‘Peaktime’ praised by many DJs) as they are a mix of a large music culture ranging from jazz to reggae, funk to hip-hop, dub to garage & deep house via techno & soul.
Our second special guests this month are City Soul Project, Inspired by the true stalwarts of house music, such as Mr Fingers, Frankie Knuckles, Stacey Pullen, Todd Terry, DJ Sneak, Kings of Tomorrow, Masters At Work, Murk, Farley & Heller to name a few, the City Soul Project are behind a unique house sound coming direct out of London, England and are already working alongside some of the greatest DJ's, Labels and Producers within the industry including i! Records, Soulman Music, Blockhead, Hype Muzik and more.
With a wealth of experience behind the decks and within the industry itself, long term friends Scott Harrington and Ryan Briggs locked horns at the turn of 2010 to form the City Soul Project - with the sole aim of both producing and performing unsurpassed, quality underground house music.
On the production front, the guys have been busy in the studio and have delivered three fantastic EPs for i! Records, Sure Player and Soulman Music and have also delivered some great singles for Sabb's NuLogic imprint and long running US label Blockhead Recordings too, with the latter including a remix from man of the moment, Soul Minority!
After their appearances DJ'ing in Ibiza, at venues including Hush and Kanya, the guys have turned some heads within the scene and have been commissioned to remix for the likes of Pablo Fierro, JP Chronic & Bear Who for Open Bar Music, Mitch Davis for Groove On, Zoo Project's Lee Pennington for Forbidden Fruit and two club stormers for 3345 Music and Hype Muzik!
Pushing forward in to 2012, the guys are looking forward to working with their new signing to German agency Electronic Music Network (EMN) and sharing their sound with dates in and around Europe, tba soon.

Vibes is a new night at the Horse and Groom brought to you by TACTiLE resident and Universal Vibes head honcho, Paddy Freeform.
After 2 great years TACTiLE ended when co-promoters and fellow residents Tomas and Mirror Mirror flew the nest and left London for greener pastures north of the border, but with a fantastic venue like the Horse and Groom for a home we didn't want to let go, so Paddy has picked up the baton and will continue to bring the Vibes. Featuring the same bass heavy mix of electronic house, deep dubstep, broken beats and all points in between on the big horse and groom sound system with the same atmosphere and vibe TACTiLE became known for.
We kick things off my welcoming a very special guest and veteran of the London house and leftfield music scene, the legendary Phil Asher....
Since his first DJ slot at Delirium in 1991, Phil Asher has slowly built an extensive resume as an international jock, producer, and integral figure in London's dance music community. In the late '90s and early 2000s, Asher was central in the evolution of broken beat, as a founder of West London's Co-Op club, and as a prolific artist with countless remixes and numerous recording projects under his belt.
Asher started his life in music in a rather unique fashion. As a youngster, he'd sneakily filch some of the records his father would bring home from a record store job and sell them to his schoolmates. Later on, he followed in his father's footsteps by working at record shops and developed his taste for several styles of music, encompassing jazz, funk, soul, disco and house. He ventured into DJ'ing in the early '90s, became part of Slip 'n' Slide's extensive Jazz in the House compilation/mix series, and by the late '90s, he was into production work and even began hosting a radio program - R Solution, with Kirk DeGiorgio and 4hero's Dego and Mark Mac - on London's Kiss FM.
The producer's role as a driving force behind broken beat hit full speed in the early 2000s. Not only was he a member of the duo Restless Soul, releasing 12" singles with Luke McCarthy and numerous outside collaborators, but he presented a full-length project called Focus for 2002's Sweet and Sour. Phil has been credited with eighty of his own productions, and has tampered with countless other tracks in a remix guise.
Supprting on the night we have Wez Saunders and Paddy Freeform, Wez runs several labels including Endemic Digital, Sounds of Juan and Unrivaled Music and as a DJ has been cutting a swathe across London's house scene with gigs at Ministry, various boat parties and underground events. He is also picking up serious props by qualifying for the final of the Bedrock and Beatportal DJ Mix competition. While Vibes resident Paddy Freeform is gearing up for a busy 2012 with the launch of the Soulsonics production alias and Universal Vibes label continuing to release the finest in deep electronic music and continuing to push the Vibes across London and beyond....

For our first event of thew year we are Joined by special guest Jewels Hartnell...whose fascination for underground dance music first began with the emergence of The Acid House towards the end of 1986. This brand new scene, with its revolutionary sound of synthesized Acid/Tech induced a deep musical interest which led onto Sound Production classes at S.A.E. As invitations to play at private parties began coming in from industry colleagues, a progression into the London club scene followed on from there.
In June 2010 a move into the world of underground event promotion began, and by the end of 2010 Colin Dale's WILDLIFE ARTIST MANAGEMENT had welcomed Jewels onto its books as one of London's most exciting new school female DJ's.
Her edgy progressions of deep acid spiked house, tech groove and nu disco have since secured regular bookings as well as appearances on Radio. Currently holding residency with family run promotion B.T.S, find an original sound which resonates back to the days where it first began. Acid House may have moved on and the scene changed, but the fascination remains the same

They have enjoyed number 1 and 2 top chart successes on download stores Beatport and Juno whilst working with labels including Glideslope, Guess, Raw Cutz, Shifted Music, Brown Eyed Boyz, Loudeast, 54 Music, Acryl, Sophisticate and their forthcoming EP on Germanys Plastic City Records.
As for his solo endeavours, Matt has had success with solo releases through Urbantorque Records (4/ 5* in Mixmag Magazine UK), Pack Up And Dance (Number 2 on Beatport deep house chart for several weeks), Metroline (Record Of The Week on Loudeast FM Spain) & Nightbird and has been fortunate to have the likes of Milton Jackson and Soul Minority remix his productions.
On top of all of this, he has started a new project with Pezzner called Arithmetics and they have just finished off a new track called For The Faint Of Heart. Matt has been described as “fast becoming a force to be reckoned with” and Jimpster has described some of his productions as “Excellent tracks full of originality and deep, dancefloor friendly loveliness”.

Vibes returns once again to the free warehouse space of cafe 1001, the only place to kick start your saturday with Funktion One sound and the strongest early evening crowd in the east end....
For this months event we once again team up with Endemic Digital, and Paddy Freeform will be joined by Emdemic's head honcho, Wez Saunders...
Wez Saunders Lives Music. So much so, that he did what not many others would do and gave up a secure job to do something that he loves. Driven by success and the tragic and untimely Death of his soul-mate & younger Brother to Leukaemia in June 2008, Wez Saunders has re-found inspiration - in Music.
Wez Saunders is a DJ, producer, remixer, A&R/Label Manager and Booking Agent who has had 16+ years of moderate success with previous alias' Humungo 242 (remixing for Pink, Uncle 22, DJ Trust), Samian Pourne, more recently The Hat, from Kita & The Hat (The Gallery, Twilo, Ministry of Sound, Pacha) & Mysterious Chess Boxer. However, since finding himself, 2011 has seen Wez Saunders take leaps and bounds on all levels - and in the right direction!
Wez Saunders calls himself a "House DJ" because he can & will play the first, peak or last set of the night, and be sure not to disappoint. Whether warming up first for Oliver Lang on a Plastic Fondu Boat Party or playing peak time Tech & Prog House at the Ministry of Sound, Wez Saunders will always keep the Dancefloor moving.

After a sold out run of roadblocking Friday night parties at Cargo, the Vibes crew return to Shoreditch and team up with Bambara to shake up summer Sundays in the capital.
Launching on Sunday 12th June, the all dayer welcomes legends of clubland Back To Basics to Cargo's garden terraces for its premiere, to soak up the sunshine alongside the Vibes and Bambara residents. Headlining is none other than Basics founder and infamous reveller Dave Beer, alongside his long standing residents Tristan Da Cuhna and James Holroyd.
A man like Dave Beer really needs no introduction, but for those unfamiliar with the charismatic king of clubland, he's the founder and mastermind behind the Back to Basics club and label. Inspired to throw his own illicit acid house parties by early trips to the Hacienda, the passing of the Criminal Justice bill served as a catalyst for Dave to start his first legit clubnight; Back to Basics.
Celebrating its 20th birthday this year, Basics is the longest running club of its kind in the world and continually acts as a magnet for like-minded people, drawn to the combination of its Rock 'n Roll ethos, passion for music and refusal to sell out which remains to this day. Over the years Basics has been responsible for the debut appearances of the likes of Francois K, Danny Tenaglia, Frankie Knuckles, Doc Martin, Josh Wink and Derrick Carter, to name but a few.
Joining Dave on the night is James Holroyd who has been synonymous with Back to Basics since its inception. This hasn't stopped him clocking up numerous residencies at super clubs like Cafe Del Mar and Cream as well as residencies at premier promotions like Buggedout, Aficianado and Electric Chair. In addition to all that he has somehow found time to support the Chemical Brothers as their resident tour DJ for the past 15 years.
Completing the Basics line up is Tristan Da Cuhna who by the time he was 21 had a residency at Back to Basics and an A&R position at Ralph Lawsonís renowned 20/20 Vision label. Since then Tristan has launched his own label Redux and has recently received critical acclaim for his groundbreaking Nu Disco sets and his ever popular podcast Throwing Shapes.
A bastion of the house scene, shoreditch sunshine and Cargo's blend of bbq and beats make Back to Basics at Cargo a must for your summer calendar

Sounds Good launches their summer season of all day sessions at the Lockside Lounge with resident DJ's playing out on the terrace and a live art jam from renowned street artists and illustrators Collaberation Nation. In the evening the party moves inside and onto the dancefloor as Paddy Freefrom and the iTchySoul DJ's are joined by special guest, house and disco superstar Mr Ashley Beedle.
Sounds Good have been rocking the Lockside since 2007, now a bi-monthly residency, the early events were sun-splashed summer jams utilising the Lockside Lounge's huge sun trap terrace overlooking Camden Market and the famous Camden Lock. Residents Paddy Freeform, The Ithchysoul DJís and newest recruit Mudfoot Blapps, have been itching to return to their roots and bust out on the terrace for an all day session, and now with spring in the air the time has finally come.
Once darkness descends and the party moves indoors, one of the UK's finest house producers Ashley Beedle will supply the sounds to keep the dancefloor moving. Beedle rose to fame in the 90's as a member of several hugely successful production projects including Black Science Orchestra, X-Press 2, The Ballistic Brothers and The Rising Sunz. A celebrated DJ and producer under his own name, Ashley has recently released and album with Horace Andy and has been hailed as one of the worlds premier disco and house DJ's.
Always innovating, the Sounds Good crew will be bringing a new element to the summer Sessions with live art jams on the terrace curated by the Ghetto Method Collective, the first of which will feature Collaberation Nation.
Collaberation (Inter)Nation(al) is the brain child of Bristol based illustrator SPZero76, who has devised a unique way for artists from different spheres of the art world to collaborate. The concept is simple; a chain letter illustration is started by one artist who then lets 3 talented illustrators and graffiti artists add their stamp to it until itís returned to the original artist to polish off. The instigating artist keeps the original canvas, with all the featured doodlers receiving a modestly priced limited edition print.
Music, art, food and drink all under one roof and it's free before 8pm....Sounds Good!

Freestyle Blend is a new night brought to you by TACTiLE resident and Universal Vibes head honcho, Paddy Freeform.
After 2 great years TACTiLE recently ended when co-promoters and fellow residents Tomas and Mirror Mirror flew the nest and left London for greener pastures north of the border, but with a fantastic venue like the Horse and Groom for a home we didn't want to let go, so Paddy has picked up the baton and will continue a bi-monthly residency. Featuring the same bass heavy mix of electronic house, deep dubstep, broken beats and all points in between on the big horse and groom sound system with the same atmosphere and vibe TACTiLE became known for.
Launching on 30th April, Paddy Freeform will be joined by Bugz In The Attic founder and former Co-Op resident, Afronaught...Afronaught is the primary alias of Orin Walters, a chief instigator of the West London based music movement that became known as the 'broken beat' scene. Not only is Walters one of the best producers in the field of broken beat, he's also been behind the formation of the Bugz in the Attic collective, in addition to having released plenty of the scene's recorded output through labels he has set up and helped run, like Mousetrap, Suckers Need Bass, and Bitasweet. Walters' route into dance music began in the late ‘80s, when he began listening to pirate radio stations and frequenting warehouse parties. It wasn't long before he was spinning house on London pirates and holding residencies at several clubs. He spent some time living in Chicago during the mid-‘90s and helped operate clubs like Kaboom and the Shelter. After returning to the U.K., he became a fixture at Ronnie Scott's and began collaborating with Phil Asher as Blak ‘n' Spanish. The Mousetrap label was initiated around the same time, and the constantly mutating/developing Bugz in the Attic group took shape, taking on production work and remix work. Walters' Afronaught productions tend to sound more directly soul-influenced than those of his counterparts His debut full-length as Afronaught, the excellent Shapin' Fluid, was released on R&S subsidiary Apollo in 2001 and he became a key resident in the Co-Op club night that sat at the centre of the Broken Beat scene....

The increasingly popular venue overlooking Camden Lock provides the perfect backdrop for the sumptuous mix of disco, house and freestyle tunes the Sounds Good DJís drop. This month the resident crew are joined by renowned record label Tirk Records.
Matty J & Ben Terry are the resident DJ double act at East London label Tirk Records, the critically acclaimed imprint that rose from the ashes of the legendary Nuphonic stable. Having played at the UKís premier night spots and most famous festivals the pair have now started to trot the globe making appearances in LA, Australia, Berlin and Stockholm and even finding time to hit Malawi in the depths of Africa. Amazingly they still find time to hold annual residencies at The Garden Festival, Snowbombing and We Love at Space in Ibiza, whilst hosting regular London promotions They Shoot Horses Donít They? and Blaze of Glory. Equally happy playing slow burning warm-ups or causing peak time destruction, the Tirk Records boys will rock the Lockside.

With a busy 2011 on the cards, catch Paddy in London while you can. ithcysoul DJ's Matt Young & Alex K have been rocking the London party scene for over 5 years now holding down their residency at the ever popular ///Shift nights. Universal Vibes is bringing the Vibes back to Cargo for 2011. After our roadblock launch event in December with headliner Moodymanc, we're returning to the arches on Friday February 18th bringing the feeling, the music and the Vibes...
DJís
Toby Tobias (Rekids)
Lakuti (Sud Electronic)
Paddy Freeform (Universal Vibes)
Strange Worlds Soundsystem Live
Headlining our first Vibes event of the year is London-based producer and DJ, Toby Tobias. Toby has been tinkering with beats and samples since the early 90's, and is a bona fide aficionado of the Chicago and Detroit music scenes. Renowned as a producer, Tobyís tracks have been released on many respected labels, with remixes by artists such as I:Cube , Motor City Drum Ensemble and Tensnake. His recent debut album on the Rekids label, Space Shuffle has been championed across the realm of electronic music, and the next year will see new singles and a sophomore LP. Expect an expertly crafted lo-fi set from Toby when he hits the stage at Cargo.
Sharing the bill we are proud to feature Sud Electronic's Lerato Khathi aka Lakuti. Lakuti emerged out of the ruins of a post-apartheid South Africa, having grown up in the impoverished township of Soweto. After starting her career in Joíburg, she relocated to London in 1997 where she established the hugely popular and successful Sud Electronic label and party brand alongside Alan Abrahams. Lakuti has played out at clubs such as Fabric, The End, Plastic People, Corsica Studios, Elektrowerks and various underground parties up and down the UK. Lakutiís sets are always a treat as she only plays vinyl and we're looking forward to hearing her deep and sexy house sound on the Cargo turbo soundsystem.
No Vibes event would be complete without DJ/promoter and driving force behind the Universal Vibes label, Paddy Freeform, who blew the roof of Cargo when he followed Moodymanc onto the decks at the launch event. There will also be another appearance by live resident Darko Viric and his Strange Worlds Soundsystem. Darko brings his own brand of musical magic to life on stage as he manipulates a laptop, a 909 and a mixer and takes the crowd on an eye and ear-catching journey through deep electronic sounds.

For our last party we've invited friends, grudgingly respected rival promoters and all-round good guys to come and play records with us. So come down one last time and help us celebrate the end of a mini era with glowsticks, balloons, sexy basslines and tears before bedtime.

DJ's:
Paddy Freeform
On 8 th January we Kick off 2011 in our residency of Cafe 1001 main room.
We have been running Saturday night parties in the warehouse style main room of Cafe 1001 since the Summer an have been joined on the Funktion one sound by many friends and collborators. This time Universal Vibes head honcho Paddy Freeform will take control all night long
After picking up the DJ bug while working in a record shop in the early 90s, Paddy went on to forge a career taking in several high profile residencies and playing at just about every party in North East England, as well as promoting several events of his own. He also played alongside the likes of Carl Craig, Zed Bias, Bugz In The Attic, Gilles Peterson, 4hero and many more. A move to London soon followed where Paddy set up Universal Vibes. Originally conceived as an internet radio station five years ago, the website has gone on to attract around 50,000 hits per month and includes a wide selection of guest mixes and editorial content. Labels like Buzzin' Fly, Compost and Freerange have all been involved, while Paddy himself provides the 'Shakedown Sessions' dropping deep house for the dancefloor and the 'Freestyle Blend' featuring an eclectic mix of soulful grooves and deep house, hip hop, broken beat, disco and Balearic flavours.
In the summer of 2007 Universal Vibes expanded to become a record label and has released singles from Tim Scott, Jafar & Bobby Strobe, Poussez, The Onaz and OK_Ma among others. The label has received plenty of club and radio support, and is now reached its eleventh and twelfth releases by Young David and Keep the Secrets with the 'FuJi' and 'Nightlife' EPs respectively. The latter also features two remixes from Paddy under his Soulsonics name that take the jazzy vibe of the originals and turn them into dancefloor bombs. Next up is 'Audio Delight' EP from Hungarian artist Jaffa Surfa closely followed by Strange Worlds' haunting and critically acclaimed vocal track 'Broken', all of which cements the labels reputation to turn heads and surprise expectations with every release.
His skills and versatility as a DJ have gained Paddy much attention and he's equally at home playing underground, tech-edged house as he is playing more downtempo sets taking in everything from soulful house and broken beat to hip hop and dubstep. Paddy is totally at home on the big Funktion one rig and relishes the longer set times where he can really play across the board

To kick things off with a bang, we’ve invited 2020 Soundsytem’s Moodymanc to headline our first event. Also known as Dubble D, Danny Ward achieved critical acclaim for his genre jumping ‘Jazz Rave’ albums but now delivers House sets as Moodymanc and is currently being championed by the cream of DJ’s and music lovers from the US, UK and Europe.
Born into a life of Jazz-drumming, crate diggin' and beat making, Danny’s take on house music is deeply rooted in his upbringing in the vibrant Manchester scene of the 90s. Whilst playing with numerous indie bands, jazz trios, hip hop crews and dub soundsytems, Danny found himself frequenting institutions like the Hacienda one night and Phoenix Nights style working men’s clubs the next. His talents didn’t stay secret for long and he began working with artists ranging from The Pharcyde, Fila Brasilia, Rae and Christian and AIM, to Ralph Lawson’s 20/20 Soundsystem, as well as world renowned Jazz musicians like Gilad Atzmon and Jim Mullen.
Recent releases on premier house labels Tsuba, Third Ear, Dessous, and Connoisseur have seen Moodymanc’s tracks played by the likes of DJ Luciano and Claude VonStroke, as well as being playlisted on Radio 1 by Derrick May. Regular guest spots at clubs such as Fabric, Electric Chair and Studio B in Brooklyn serve to reinforce his presence on the international scene. DJ’ing alongside legends like Ricardo Villalobos, Francois K and DJ Sneak, Moodymanc has shown he is up there with the best at reading the crowd and building a groove which means his sets are always interesting, well-timed and a near perfect narrative of the best house music around.
No Vibes event would be complete without DJ/promoter and nucleus of the Universal Vibes label, Paddy Freeform and live resident Darko Viric and his Strange Worlds Soundsystem. Darko brings house music away from the decks with a live show featuring his trusty laptop, a 909 and a mixer. To complete the line-up we’ve got TACTiLE residents Tomas and Mirror Mirror, who have consistently smashed it alongside Paddy Freeform at the Horse and Groom. TACTiLE has just celebrated its 2nd birthday and is now holding down a regular monthly slot.

Tactile 27th November ----- Midland (Aus / Phonica) Paddy Freeform (Universal Vibes) Tomas & Mirror Mirror (Tactile) After our 2nd birthday party at the end of October, we're returning to The Horse & Groom on the 27th of November for our last party of the year. Headlining is Leeds-based Midland. His epic 'Play the Game' on Phonica Records has been played by everyone from Ramadanman to Deetron to Sasha - yes, that Sasha - and his remixes of Lone and Caribou situate him in a sweet spot between UK bass, disco and house - tinged with the unashamedly anthemic aesthetic of golden-era Kompakt or Border Community. Confused? Then listen to his awesome FACT mix, which is a masterclass in slow-burning house and disco (and actually a lot more), taking in the likes of Boards of Canada, Massive Attack, Kerri Chandler and Space Dimension Controller. With EPs forthcoming on This is Music and Will Saul's Aus, Midland looks set for big things in 2011. He'll be playing a two hour set for us so will have plenty of time to work his magic. Completing the lineup are residents Paddy Freeform, Tomas and Mirror Mirror who'll be spinning a deep and bumping mix of house, techno, disco and bass. Entry as ever is FREE before 10pm, £4 after. **This time we are in the DOWNSTAIRS room* Saturday 27th November 9pm-4am FREE before 10pm / £4 after

Strange Worlds (DJ set)
On the 13th of November we're stepping up the Vibes again with a double bill of first class parties. First up we'll be taking over the bumping Cafe 1001 main room in the heart of Brick Lane for a free party, then afterwards we'll be carrying on round the corner at Old Street's lovely new underground spot, Nomad.
We are of course no strangers to the warehouse style main room of Cafe 1001, having hosted many a Saturday night party there in the last couple of months. This time the Funktion One sound system will be graced by East London party starters Man Make Music alongside residents Paddy Freeform and Strange Worlds.
Since late 2006, Man Make Music has cultivated their name as one of the best up and coming party brands in London. After a series of road blocked events in the East End from Unit 7 to Corsica Studios and legendary underground warehouse raves in Hackney Wick, it wasn't long before promoters from London's most established venues were taking serious note of MMM's electric eclectic bass parties.
As DJ's, the MMM lads Sketchy, Another Amit & Noel Mas, effortlessly blend together a broad spectrum of bass heavy electronic music from disco, house and tech house to dubstep, wonky, bass and hip-hop. They've played and hosted alongside such notables as Mala (Digital Mystikz), Claude Von Stroke, Nathan Fake, Justin Martin, Kevin Saunderson, Joy Orbison and many more.
After rocking Cafe 1001 with his Strange Worlds live set at the last couple of parties, Strange World's Darko steps out from behind his machines for a DJ set and of course delivering the deep grooves will be Universal Vibes head honcho paddy freeform
After the free party at Cafe 1001 we move up the road to Old Street and take over one of the floors of NOMAD. Nomad is a new music venue in London that came to life on the second weekend of August 2010. Aiming to deliver an advanced series of DJ and live acts, combined with internationally known artists and the most inspiring new talents, we're looking forward to testing out the brand new Nexus soundsystem as we bring the Vibes...

TACTiLE second birthday - 30th October 2010

ver two years of parties we've been treated to incredible music from some amazing guests, including Ikonika, Jackmaster, Perempay, Lakuti, Ben UFO, Chris Box, Spatial, Bok Bok, Jam City, Slackk, Pangaea and Cooly G. On the 30th October we’re celebrating our second birthday with what promises to be a very special night indeed. To help us celebrate we will be joined by two of our favourite producers - Altered Natives and Subeena - and the full residents' crew will be in attendance, playing b2b2b. Now some more on our guests… Altered Natives, UK house maestro and badman selector has released one of the year’s best dance albums in Tenement Yard and if you haven’t already heard it, we strongly advise you check it out immediately. Fusing broken beat rhythms with house grooves and serious UK pressure, he’s one of the most exciting producers and DJs in the country right now. http://soundcloud.com/altered-natives Subeena made her name with a wicked release on Planet Mu last year. ‘Picture’, released on her new Opit Recordings, was featured on Surgeon’s recent Fabric mix. Add to that an excellent FACT mix of her own, a superlative anthem in 'Boksd' and you’ve got a serious talent. We were frankly blown away when we saw her playing live at a Planet Mu night at Corsica Studios and we can’t wait to see her in action at The Horse & Groom. http://soundcloud.com/subeena Our 2nd birthday will also see the welcome return of resident Paddy Freeform, who’s summer schedule has seen him play at standout events Freerotation in Wales and the Garden Festival in Croatia. Residents Tomas and Mirror Mirror complete the lineup. http://www.universalvibes.com As if that's not enough, it's also The Horse & Groom's 3rd birthday weekend AND of course Halloween, so the venue will be decorated in a suitably ghoulish fashion. Fancy dress is a must. The Horse & Groom is a small capacity venue and this promises to be a very busy night so advance tickets are recommended - they will be on sale from Resident Advisor in the next few days.

Sounds Good in the sunshine end of summer party and live art jam Free party lockside lounge Well, its been another summer of terrace action and we're determined to squeeze the last out of it, so on september 19th we hit the terrace for one last time before we move indoors for the winter and launch a new bi monthly saturday night party. so there'll be the usual dj action and a barebque on the huge terrace overlooking Camden Market, and after decorating the terrace at the last event Kitch-en gallery returns with the soon to be legendary live art jam: Established in 2005 in the North East of England, Kitch-en is a Contemporary Urban Gallery specialising in selling limited edition prints, original works and vinyl toys by some of the best up and coming artists in the UK.The collaboration with Universal Vibes on Sunday 18th July will enable kitch-en gallery to showcase some of their most talented artists via an all day live art. Kitch-en Gallery will bring together artists from the North and South and present a live art showdown from 1pm – 7pm. The artists will work on large wooden boards using POSCA paint markers and acrylic paints. Primarily based online (www.kitch-engallery.co.uk), Kitch-en Gallery understands that an online presence can’t create the excitement of a physical gallery space and live artwork so they continually tour the UK and beyond with exhibitions and events to showcase their range of artists. Kitch-en Gallery understands the need to mix art with other elements of contemporary urban culture and the need to move away from traditional gallery spaces. So we've teamed up to provide an eclectic funk laden sunshine music soundtrack to the live art pieces that will take shape and form thoughout the day... DJ support comes from residents universal vibes' paddy freeform and the Itchysoul djs (matt young and alex k) whose new ///shift record label has been picking up some big props, they will be joined by a special guest from Kitch-en Gallery Affilates, the Ghetto Method Collective..Mudfoot Blapps who tore up the terrace last time So join us on the huge terrace as the sun shines, the music plays, the art takes shape and form and the barbeque sizzles...sounds good?
